Is it strange to buy stuff for future-maybe baby?

I adore this onesie from Virginia (yay VA!) Etsy seller Alliecraft; should I ever have a daughter she MUST wear this. So my question is, is it weird to create a hope chest for a maybe baby? Not too many friends have babies let alone baby girls at this point; though my cousins have some baby ladies on the team. But selfishly, I don't even want this as a gift to give. I want it all for future-maybe baby cadet.

I grew up with these exact Rainbow Brite sheets and comforter. She was my hero; I called her Beebo Brite. We have a family video of me opening up Christmas presents at age 4 and screaming incredulously "Iiiiiiit's Rainbow Briiiiiite". Santa knew what was up.

So my question remains; is it weird to get this?
